TOTE Facilities & Offices: Lower 48 and Canada
In the Port of Tacoma, Washington, TOTE's marine terminal is located on the Blair Waterway. The corporate office is in Federal Way, and offline sales offices are located in Long Beach, Chicago, Houston, Portland, and Vancouver, B.C.
Tacoma Terminal Updates
We have recently completed construction of our new Tacoma terminal and are excited about the changes.
We moved into our new gate facility on April 7th, which included the new Gate House/Driver's Service Building, the new Lane 4 Booth for Flatbeds and oversize loads, and the new guard booth at the main entrance. The new gate includes a new computer Terminal Operating System (TOS) for the Trailer processing in and out of our gate. Additionally, the lanes are equipped with cameras and intercom pedestals to help speed transactions, while keeping the drivers in their trucks during the processing of inbound and outbound trailers. We are continuing to improve our gate processing to improve driver times in the terminal and ensure customer satisfaction.
With newer technologies, we are working toward improving all aspects of our operation to give our customers the highest possible quality of service. To assist in our yard planning, trailer identification, and vessel loading operation, the terminal is equipped with yard cameras. Another feature of the terminal is our new wireless system with 100% coverage throughout the yard, to make trailer location identification and information flow go much smoother and faster.
We moved into our new vehicle processing building and car yard at the south end of the yard on April 21st. Vehicle shipment processing also uses the wireless backbone in our yard, utilizing handheld computers and scanners. Again, we aeconstantly working toward offering even faster turn times for drivers delivering vehicles and minimizing our customers time when picking up or dropping off their vehicle for shipment to/from Alaska.
Our new south entrance into the yard is now operating for vehicle shipment traffic and an entrance into our new primary parking for longshore and terminal personnel. Terminal maintenance and vessel Maintenance vendors should use this entrance when making deliveries.
Both the north and south entrances have security access controls with intercoms and video monitoring. Security cameras are located throughout the facility and perimeter for monitoring.
